Project Name:
The Flower Peddler
Location:
Las Vegas, Nevada
Description:
The owners of this business
wanted their building to reflect their artistic background, have a unique
character, and be economical to build and maintain. The result was this
unique 5,000 square foot design. To maximize building frontage, we gave it
an "L" shaped footprint. Then we "peeled away" the
curved fascia to intersect the north-facing arm of the building. The
west-facing arm was lowered three feet, to reduce solar exposure and
provide a unique design element. We used the fascia as a support element
or idealized "flower stem." We then used colors to accentuate
this form, with exposed structural decking wrapping the fascia to
reinforce the structural aspect of this element. We used the "flower
petal" light-filtering device on all windows.
